The province this morning is reporting at least 10,964 new COVID-19 cases with 42 deaths.
A total of 3,814 individuals across the province are hospitalized with 527 in ICU with 288 on ventilators.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting at least 118 new cases with 154 resolved.
One new death was reported, a female resident of Valleyview Home in her 80s. It’s the 11th COVID-related death in five days. The death toll is 128 since the pandemic began.
The percent positivity rate in the region has slipped to 19.5%.
There are 35 new cases in St. Thomas, five in West Elgin, four in Aylmer and Dutton/Dunwich, and one in Malahide and Central Elgin.
There are 1,129 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 342 in Woodstock, 304 in St. Thomas, 111 in Ingersoll, 72 in Aylmer, 71 in Tillsonburg, 43 in Central Elgin, 31 in Zorra, 27 in West Elgin, 26 in East Zorra-Tavistock and Norwich, 22 in Dutton/Dunwich, 16 in Bayham and SW Oxford, 12 in Blandford-Blenheim, six in Southwold and four in Malahide.
There are 28 resident cases and 19 staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas, 16 resident and 24 staff cases at Valleyview, four resident and two staff case at Elgin Manor, nine residents and 11 staff at Extendicare in Port Stanley, four patient and three staff cases at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, 10 resident and three staff cases at Terrace Lodge, one resident and one staff case at Metcalfe Gardens and five resident and six staff at Chartwell in Aylmer.
There are 27 hospitalizations at this time, with seven in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Seven hundred and thirteen cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 142 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 7,685.
A total of 158,163 residents in the region have had two doses of a vaccine or 72.3 per cent.
There are 515.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 714.4 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 713.5 cases per 100,000 population and 867.7 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
