Nearly $500,000 in funding announced last week by Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek is set to benefit both the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority and Municipality of Central Elgin.
The funds, provided through the Community Building Fund’s capital stream will help them complete much-needed sport and recreation facility infrastructure repairs, including retrofits and rehabilitation, to meet COVID-19 public health requirements.
“Infrastructure like this is the bedrock of our community,” said MPP Yurek. “By helping these organizations weather the storm, we are ensuring people across Elgin-Middlesex-London will have the opportunity to safely reconnect with the many things that make this community special.”
The Kettle Creek Conservation Authority will receive $71,700 in funding to retrofit three docks at Lake Whittaker, including an accessible watercraft launch to provide greater access to the waterfront.
The Municipality of Central Elgin will use $425,000 in funding to install an accessible elevator, dehumidifier, evaporative condenser, and lighting to increase access and extend the life of its arena.
