It’s A Day of Inspiration here at 94.1 myFM, presented by Doug Tarry Homes and Geerlinks Home Hardware & Building Centre.
Today, we are taking some time to highlight the amazing work Community Living does for residents of St. Thomas and Elgin.
For those not familiar, Community Living Elgin is a not-for-profit charitable organization that supports and advocates for the rights of adults with developmental disabilities and helps assist them to live independent lives.
Thanks to Community Living Elgin, Bryan Vaughan has been able to do just that.
Vaughan who has been living independently for 3 year now, made it a goal of his to get where he’s at, notes Cindy Johnson with Community Living.
With ongoing support, Vaughan is able to complete his weekly errands and attend appointments.
Thanks to this independence, Vaughan says he gets to do all of the activities he enjoys.
And he’s also a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan, who he watches on the big screen TV in his apartment.
Vaughan notes he receives support in terms of budgeting in order to purchase larger items, such as his newly required chest freezer.
After retiring from Community Living’s work program, Vaughan says he likes to enjoy the peace and quite of his own place.
