The Nationals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening period and then hung on to double-up the St. Thomas Stars 4-2 Wednesday night in London.
Riley Wood scored less than two minutes into the game and then Jeff Burridge and Noah Arsenault tallied before the end of the period to give the Nats all the goals they would need.
The Stars’ Connor Snedden opened up the middle frame with his second goal of the season only to have Rylan Bowers restore London’s three-goal cushion seven minutes later.
Tyler Alexander closed the gap to 4-2 before the end of the period and neither team could find the net over the final 20 minutes.
The Stars pulled netminder Owen Willmore with a couple of minutes to play but to no avail.
London has now won three of four encounters this season with the Stars. The loss was the fourth in five games for St. Thomas.
The Stars remain even with Strathroy in seventh place in the GOJHL Western Conference with 23 points although they have a game in hand.
They tangle with the Rockets on Friday at the Joe Thornton Community Centre in a 7:30 p.m. start.
Strathroy has prevailed in two of three meetings with the Stars this season.
