Premier Doug Ford’s announcement that the province is moving to the next step of its reopening plan today is welcome news for local businesses, advises Earl Taylor, Chair of the St. Thomas Downtown Development Board.
As of today, capacity limits will be removed in places such as restaurants, bars, gyms and movie theatres.
He notes that restaurants in particular have shared their excitement.
Taylor says it’s also a benefit to fellow agents in this red hot real estate environment.
His main concern following the new opening, is hearing case counts are on the rise again and COVID-19 restrictions have to again be enforced. He references the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918.
While there will be consumers who may remain hesitant, Taylor feels two years into the pandemic, most people are anxious to return to a sense of normalcy.
