The St. Thomas Stars showed no ill effects having to play their second game in 24 hours as they humbled the Kings 6-2 Saturday night in Komoka.
The Stars were coming off a hard-fought 4-3 loss to Leamington at home Friday night.
St. Thomas jumped out to a 2-0 lead on tallies from Nick Houben and Patterson McNair in a four-minute span of the first period and never allowed Komoka the opportunity to catch up.
Nicholas Yearwood got Komoka on the scoreboard midway through the middle frame only to have Tyler Alexander restore the two-goal lead before the second intermission.
The Stars owned the third period with Tristen Gerth, Tristen Roberts on a powerplay and Mathieu Paris finding the net. For Paris it was his 17th goal of the campaign.
Colin Holmes put the puck behind Stars’ netminder Owen Willmore who benefitted from a night off against Leamington.
Alexander and Jackson Dobbie each added a pair of assists.
For the Stars, it was their second straight victory this month over the Kings, having prevailed 5-2 at home on Feb. 4.
St. Thomas remains in seventh spot in the GOJHL Western Conference but were unable to put any distance between themselves and Strathroy who also won 5-2 over LaSalle and the Rockets remain a point in arrears of the Stars.
The two teams meet up Friday night at the Joe Thornton Community Centre in a 7:30 start.
