A local fundraiser in support of humanitarian efforts in Ukraine will take over the CASO station in St. Thomas Tuesday.
The March for Ukraine fundraiser will see a number of speakers, a silent auction, market place, crafts as well as a variety of Ukrainian foods available.
Tickets to the event in support of the war-torn country are $22.23 and gets you a taste of different Ukrainian dishes as well as a gift in support of Ukraine.
Petrusia Hontar, Project Manager at St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership and event organizer, hopes the night will help local residents learn more about the country and its people.
And to localized it even further, a formal presentation will be made by Steve Peters beginning at 7 p.m. involving the history of Ukrainian’s in St. Thomas.
The fundraiser will run from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m., in partnership with St. Thomas and Elgin Home Builders’ Association.
Those looking to support locally but can not attend, can e-transfer finance@ywcaste.ca with a note indicating the donation is for March for Ukraine. Donations of medical supplies can also be dropped off at Geerlinks Home Hardware in St. Thomas, Port Stanley and Komoka.
