My husband Steven and I first founded Mr. & Mrs. Bao in 2017. At the time, we were just students in university and found that we often grew homesick and missed the homecooked meals my grandma used to make. We decided to operate a food truck offering wholesome and authentic Asian cuisine, including noodles, rice bowls and our signature “baos” to students and staff on the university campus. Thanks to the local support, we went on to open four more restaurants. Today, we are a team of 30 passionate individuals, proudly serving homestyle Asian fusion cuisine in the GTA and Southwestern Ontario region.
When I was in high school, I was introduced to the quote by Confucius “find a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life”. Since then, I was on a quest to find my passion. In my first year of university, I had the opportunity to take a course on making business decisions. In that course, I got to put on the hat of business owners to tackle real-world business problems from their perspective and let me tell you…it was so cool! I immediately fell in love with the idea of making business decisions that positively impacted sales, employees, guests, and other stakeholders. It was then that I decided that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. The ability to build a business in a field that I am passionate about with a team of like-minded individuals is not only empowering but so incredibly fun!
