The St. Thomas Stars pulled out of a three-game losing skid Friday thanks to an impressive third-period scoring blitz at the Joe Thornton Community Centre.
The Stars fired home four goals, including an empty-netter, to double up the Komoka Kings 4-2.
The Kings had nursed a 1-0 lead into the final 20 minutes, courtesy of a Nash Glover goal, only to have the Stars offense shift into overdrive.
Maddox Amaral, Nicholas Mazza, Jackson Phillips and Tristen Roberts with the empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining turned the contest around for St. Thomas.
Carter McLlwain cut the St. Thomas lead to 3-2 before Roberts’ insurance marker.
However, the Stars’ powerplay again drew blanks, coming up empty on five attempts.
Tyler Roberts was in net for the win, his seventh of the season.
The teams split the season series, each winning three games with the Stars prevailing in the final three encounters.
St. Thomas is back in action tonight (Saturday) when they play the eighth-place Rockets in Strathroy. A Stars’ win will ensure they finish the season no lower than 7th in the GOJHL Western Conference.
myFM will have all the action with Chris Soares beginning at 7:20 p.m.
