A St. Thomas Police officer was assaulted Friday evening while attempting to arrest a female.
Officers were called to a city residence where a 34-year-old female allegedly was assaulted by another 34-year-old female who had left the scene.
Police located her nearby and when attempting to arrest her, she hit an officer in the face.
She has been charged with assault and assaulting a police officer.
Neither the officer nor the female victim suffered serious injuries.
The accused was released with conditions and a future court date.
