A heads up to parents who got an early start on Easter shopping as a recall on some Kinder brand chocolate products linked to an outbreak of salmonella in several European countries has been expanded to Canada.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the recalled products include Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise, Kinder Surprise Miraculous and Kinder Egg Hunt Kits.
The products distributed by Ferrero Canada were sold nationally with best before dates ranging from June 19th to November 29th.
The CFIA says there have been no related illnesses reported here, however the recalled products should not be consumed.
They recommend recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased
The European Centre for Disease Prevention says the chocolates were identified “as the likely route of infection” in a salmonella outbreak involving 134 children.
