It’s crunch time for the St. Thomas Stars.
Three losses in as many days over the weekend find St. Thomas trailing the London Nationals 3-1 in the best-of-seven opening round of the Sutherland Cup playoffs.
Once again, the Stars took the lead in Game 4 on Sunday evening at the Joe Thornton Community Centre only to have London score five straight goals en route to a 5-3 win.
The Stars had actually built a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes on a powerplay goal from Maddox Amaral and Nick Houben as they outshot the Nats 16-5.
However London owned the next 30 minutes of play, with two-goal efforts from Jeff Burridge and Rylan Bowers plus a single from Jacob Julien to build a commanding 5-2 lead.
Tristen Roberts netted his third of the series with just over two minutes to play, but it was too little, too late.
London can move on to the next round Wednesday night when they host the Stars in Game 5 at Western Fair District. myFM will have all the action with Chris Soares beginning at 6:50.
