In an effort to help beatify the place we call home, the city of St. Thomas is encouraging residents to get involved in the Community Clean Up Challenge next week.
The community clean up, which coincides with earth week, challenges residents, businesses, groups, organizations and classes to spend some time outdoors picking up garbage around their neighbourhoods, businesses, and schools.
Mayor Joe Preston says if participants register through the city website, clean up materials will be provided.
Preston notes that the community clean up may be needed now more than ever before.
He adds this is a simple way to help out the city in preparation for the summer months.
All participating groups are asked to register online so others can know what areas have already be cleaned.
The link to do so can be found here.
