In a letter to parents Thursday, the Thames Valley District School Board confirmed news of the masking requirement passed by the Board of Trustees.
Despite the motion being passed by a vote of 7-5 Tuesday, the TVDSB clarified in the letter that masking will not be enforced.
The motion noted, requires all staff, students, and visitors to wear a mask inside any TVDSB school or building.
In the letter, the board stressed support towards the motion and note that wearing a mask is an added layer of prevention and protection that is strongly recommended, especially for individuals at higher risk of COVID-19.
But those who elect not to wear a mask will be granted an automatic exemption with no action required.
Our previous story on the matter can be read here.
