Following a lengthy investigation by the St. Thomas Police Criminal Investigations Branch, a 37 year old woman has been charged with failing to provide the necessities of life.
Police say the incident in question took place back in June of 2021 when a newborn child died following an unassisted home birth.
The woman, a 37 year old living in St. Thomas was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life.
She was later released with a future court date.
