A city by-law issue has axed a planned event in St. Thomas this weekend.
St Thomas Poutine Feast, which was set to kick off today at the corner of Talbot and Ross Streets failed to have the proper documentation in place to hold the event. Because the travelling show would feature a number of out of town food trucks, the event was in violation of city by-law 9-92.
The by-law states that all food trucks operating in St. Thomas must have the appropriate permit, which at this time has only been granted to 6 local food trucks.
The by-law also states that no-person can operate a mobile lunch wagon on a number of downtown streets, including both Ross and Talbot.
This portion of the by-law was created to protect downtown merchants, as to not take away from potential business at local restaurants.
The St Thomas Poutine Feast events page has noted that those who purchased VIP tickets will receive a refund.
A copy of the by-law can be found here.
