While the race for MPP in Elgin-Middlesex-London was anything but a nail biter, the margin between runner up and 3rd place was something of note.
Andy Kroeker, NDP candidate for the riding, came away with just over 18% of the vote, while Heather Jackson of the Liberal’s fell just behind at 17%.
We spoke with both Kroeker and Jackson about Thursday’s results, both agreeing it was an amazing experience just running in the race.
Kroeker congratulated riding winner Rob Flack of the Conservatives on his victory in Elgin-Middlesex-London.
As the official runner up, he notes how grateful he is to those who did chose to vote for him and the NDP.
While this marks the first political campaign for Kroeker, Jackson is no stranger. She notes how each time, there is always something to learn.
While the results may not have been what she had hoped for, she credits the hard work of her team during the campaign for the success they did see.
The results as of 11 p.m. Thursday are as followed…
Progressive Conservative Rob Flack 51.1%
New Democrat Andy Kroeker 18.2%
Liberal Heather Jackson 17.4%
New Blue Matt Millar 5.1%
Green Amanda Stark 4.7%
Ontario Party Brigitte Belton 2.5%
Freedom Party of Ontario Dave Plumb 0.6%
Consensus Ontario Malichi Malé 0.4%
