St. Thomas has enjoyed significant economic and housing growth over the past four years and Mayor Joe Preston suggested that’s due to a strong working relationship with the Doug Ford government.
Preston says he is encouraged by the outcome for Elgin-Middlesex-London in last Thursday’s provincial vote which will see the riding again represented by a Progressive Conservative MPP.
Jeff Yurek stepped down in February of this year after an 11-year run as EML MPP.
With Ford earning a second majority from Ontario voters and locally, PC candidate Rob Flack easily topping the polls, his job is just that much easier, advised Preston.
He told myFM over the past four years with Yurek representing the riding, there has been no lack of government support for the city.
Flack defeated runner-up Andy Kroeker of the NDP by more than 14,000 votes.
He confirmed he will set up his constituency office in the CASO station, taking over space previously occupied by Yurek.
