The Elgin County OPP are crediting the quick-thinking actions of their officers in saving a female’s life.
On Friday, June 10th around 10:55 p.m., police noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway at a Fingal Line address in Southwold.
Officers located an unresponsive female and forcibly entered the vehicle.
It was then identified that the female was in medical crisis from a possible opioid overdose and approximately five doses of naloxone were administered.
The female was then transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
“Officers involved in this incident were able to quickly identify an opioid overdose and saved this women’s life by administering naloxone. When someone is overdosing, minutes can make the difference between life and death. The naloxone kits are an additional tool which OPP officers utilize to keep our communities safe.” – Inspector Mark Loucas, Detachment Commander, Elgin County OPP.
