You could call it the greening of Terrace Lodge.
When the redeveloped facility in Malahide opens in 2024, the four resident home areas will be identified using the names of trees found in Elgin county.
The names agreed upon in unanimous fashion are birch, pine, maple and chestnut.
Originally opened in 1977, the redevelopment of Terrace Lodge is designed to better meet the needs of long-term care residents.
Elgin county is known for its Carolinian forest and Warden Mary French says she is happy to see Elgin’s natural beauty honoured in this fashion.
