The OPP has had to knock on far too many doors already this year, and summer is only one week in.
Several motorcycle collisions have been reported in the area over the past few weeks, with operators suffering serious injuries, or in some cases, pronounced dead at the scene.
In Elgin County alone, a fatal motorcycle collision was reported last Tuesday. Elgin OPP then responded to three collisions involving a motorcycle in the span of 5 hours Saturday, as well as a collision between two motorcycles on Sunday.
That’s Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.
He too is worried about the recent collisions he’s been seeing, especially because almost all are easily preventable.
These collisions have not only led to the loss of life, but has caused domino effects in people’s lives.
As Sanchuk stated, these tragic situations stick with everyone involved – and just because he has a uniform on, it doesn’t make him an exception.
Sanchuk says there are common themes when it comes to these crashes: people not properly stopping at stop sign or a red light, excessive speeding, and distracted driving.
Sanchuk is asking everyone to be extra mindful over the summer months to avoid another life loss on the roadway.
