The call was made and the community answered. Thanks to the support of residents of St. Thomas and Elgin County, over $32,000 will benefit four amazing nonprofit organization through Doug Tarry Donation Days.
The local initiative was a first for myFM and Doug Tarry Homes. We asked the community to let us know of local nonprofits in need of some financial assistance. After narrowing it down to four, residents were then asked to support their favourite group, with Doug Tarry Homes matching donations up to $5,000
Representatives from The STEAM Education Centre, Pearce Williams, The Nameless and Animal Aide gathered together today to celebrate the love the community has shown.
For the team at the STEAM Education Centre, the $10,050 donation they received will support a number of their programs notes Denise Love Fundraising and Program Manager.
Joe Richards, Executive Director at Pearce Williams says their cheque for $10,975 will help support their reopening as they get set for summer camps for the first time in three years.
For the group at the The Nameless, President Leticia Mizon notes the $720 raised for them will help them in a number of ways.
An expensive time of year is here for Animal Aide of St. Thomas-Elgin and Operations Manager Ashley Thornton hopes the $10,465 they received will help with some of the costs.
While all the organizations have some different plans for the money, one thing they all agree on is how thankful they are to the community and Doug Tarry Homes.
Suzie Dennis, Director of Community Engagement at Doug Tarry Homes also took a moment to thank everyone who supported the initiative.
She adds that this is what community is all about!
