An incident on Sydenham Street in Aylmer Saturday has resulted in the arrest of a 55 year old male.
Police were called to the scene of an argument where the male became very agitated and argumentative, throwing a plastic bottle at a 57 female from Aylmer, narrowly missing her.
While speaking with officers, the female further disclosed a historical sexual assault involving the same male. She reported that in May 2021 the male was at her residence when without consent he proceeded to fondle her breasts and inner thigh area. She did not report the incident at the time out of fear.
The accused was further found to be in contravention of his previous release order not to be within 500 metres of the address on Sydenham St.
While in the process of making the arrest, the male became combative and kicked officers as they were attempting to gain control of him. Officers did not sustain any injuries and were able to gain control of the accused.
As a result, the 55 year old Aylmer resident has been charged with Failure to comply with undertaking, Assault with A Weapon, Sexual Assault and Two counts of Assault a Peace Officer.
