It’s a day many parents have anxiously awaited.
As of today (Thursday), youngsters under the age of 5 are eligible to be vaccinated with Moderna Spikevax.
Laura Anguish, COVID-19 vaccine program manager with Southwestern Public Health says her team is ready to welcome the youngest community members to the vaccination clinic at 1230 Talbot St. in St. Thomas.
She notes vaccination for all ages is the best way to protect yourself from the impacts of the coronavirus.
Anguish adds it is still too early to determine whether after receiving their two shots, a booster may be required for this age group.
Anguish advises since 2020, more than 1000 children under the age of 4 have been hospitalized in Ontario as a result of COVID-19.
The health unit reminds parents the risk of hospitalization is reduced by more than 70% when an individual has at least 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Anguish stresses her team is ready to welcome youngsters under the age of 5 to their kid-friendly clinic.
The clinic is open tomorrow (Friday) from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 until 4 p.m. It will be closed holiday Monday and then be available for walk-in visits only on Mondays and Fridays.

Due to the GoVaxx bus only carrying Pfizer, the team will be unable to vaccinate children 6 months – 5 years looking to receive the Moderna Spikevav at this time.
