As myFM continues to share the stories and platforms of local candidates vying for a seat on St. Thomas city council, those who may still want to throw their hat in the ring will only have until this Friday to do so.
Residents are reminded that the deadline to file nominations to be either a mayoral, council or school trustee candidate is Friday, August 19th at 2 p.m.
At this time, Joe Preston, who is seeking reelection as mayor is running unopposed. Currently 11 residents have filed their nominations papers for city council, with four representatives vying for the role of school board trustee.
Voters are also reminded that they must be registered to cast a ballot in the 2022 Municipal Council and School Board elections taking place October 24th.
If you are a resident, owner or tenant of property in Ontario, a Canadian citizen and 18 years of age or older election day, you can vote.
To make sure you’re on the list of registered voters, visit voterlookup.ca, where you’ll be asked to submit basic information such as name and address.
If you are not registered, the same site will help you do so.
The voters’ list will be prepared on September 1st, 2022. If you want to add, remove, or change your listed information on or after September 1st, you’ll need to contact your municipal clerk.
