This week’s Destination Local Feature Sponsored by Elgin County Tourism and fuelled by Lynhurst Esso and Variety is the Railway City Music and Arts Festival.
Preparing for its second annual showing, the Railway City Music and Arts Festival will take over the grounds of Pinafore Park from August 18th to 21st.
Festival President Joanne Dowswell explains the premise of the event that was rebranded last year after being known as the Iron Horse Festival for 26 years.
And Dowswell notes that attendees will be blown away by the talent rocking their two performance stages from open to close.
In addition to the music and arts aspect of the festival, a number of food and drink vendors, crafters and exhibitors will be on site to peruse.
Plenty of activities have been planned as well, including a children’s village, car show, a bike parade for the kids, a train ride throughout the park and even a unique live aerial performance running Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m.
Something else planned for the weekend adds Dowswell is a collaboration with the St. Thomas Economic Development and local artist Sarah Van Pelt. Dubbed the Community Mural Project, attendees can assist with the creation of a new local mural, paint by number style!
For those planning on coming out over the four days, Dowswell notes that some parking will be available on site.
