What was, up until yesterday, a one-horse race is now an interesting mayoral battle with three contenders. Incumbent Joe Preston was joined by newcomer Gregg McCart yesterday (Thursday) and this morning (Friday) former mayor Heather Jackson entered the fray.
Had Preston not been opposed, he would have been declared mayor for a second term as of 4 p.m. Monday.
The deadline for filing papers closed at 2 this afternoon, there are 16 individuals seeking to fill eight councillor seats.
