The first day of school is just about two weeks away, and for a lot of junior kindergarten kids, it’s the first day ever.
But early childhood education expert, Jane Paul, from EarlyON says there’s still time to get these first-time students ready.
She says the first days of school are about so much more than academics.
This includes practicing simple skills with your kids that will help reduce their first day stressors.
She says that will keep their stress down and raise their comfort level so their young brains and bodies can take in all that they’re doing.
Any socialization you’ve been giving your kids through playgroups or at daycare is also a big bonus. They’ll be more likely to be comfortable meeting and playing with new kids.
Paul also says its an ongoing process and you’ll have to keep practicing with your child for a few weeks so they can continue to get comfortable.
