After responding to the scene of a collision Monday, the Aylmer Police are reminding motorists what not to do if being followed too closely by another driver.
Around 1 p.m., officers were called to the collision on John Street South near Fath Avenue, where a 2019 Dodge van being operated by a 37 year old male from Aylmer rear ended a 2020 Nissan being operated by a 57 year old female from Sparta.
This occurred when the driver of the Nissan felt that the driver of the Dodge was following too close and as a result, applied brakes and slowed down hoping that the motorist behind would back off. When he didn’t, she abruptly applied brakes and came to a sudden stop, resulting in the crash.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage, with the 57 year old female being charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Stop or Slow to Interfere with Another Motor Vehicle. Her license was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
The 37 year old male from Aylmer was charged with Follow too closely.
