Leaving a wallet or purse in your vehicle unattended could lead to more than a loss of that item.
It could escalate to major purchases charged to a credit card, explains OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.
Sanchuk notes when the police and public work together in the community, there is no crime that can’t be solved.
And, with a rash of property crimes over the past few weeks, Sanchuk is urging area residents to call police right away if they see anything suspicious.
He notes, if you do spot something out of the ordinary, call the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. However, if it is a crime in progress, call 9-1-1.
And finally, it’s a simple tip. When you get out of your vehicle, please pocket your keys.
Sanchuk stresses it’s a message that will save you plenty of aggravation down the road.
He adds remove your automatic garage door opener from your car as well to help prevent a break and enter incident at a later date if the device is stolen.
