The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth has come to an end, with a lament, played by the Queen’s Piper, bringing the service to a close.
In a country known for pomp and pageantry, the first state funeral since Winston Churchill’s was filled with spectacle.
Royal Navy sailors drew the gun carriage carrying Elizabeth’s coffin to Westminster Abbey, with King Charles the Third and his sons, Princes William and Harry, walking behind as bagpipers played.
The queen’s coffin is to be laid to rest at Windsor Castle.
