While the sun played peek-a-boo with the rain clouds Thursday, several hundred people happily munched away on tasty treats from a trio of food trucks.
It was the launch of the United Way’s 2022 campaign over the lunch hour at Horton Farmer’s Market.
Kelly Ziegner, president and CEO of United Way Elgin Middlesex told myFM about the feeding a neighbour in need portion of the fundraising lunch.
About 110,000 people – one in five in this region – benefit directly each year from services provided by United Way partner agencies.
Ziegner talked about the significance of the St. Thomas event.
Ziegner added the launch “is all about connection: with community, with each other, with a shared purpose of building a community where everyone matters.”
She explained to myFM the next big fundraiser.
More than 6,000 Neighbour in Need meals have been distributed through United Way supported agencies through virtual events in the past two years.
