The provincial government announced yesterday 57-million dollars in funding over three years to recruit and retain more nurse practitioners in long-term care homes.
Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra says the investment is expected to add 225 more nurse practitioners to the sector.
The Opposition NDP says he just re-announced limited funding that doesn’t do a thing to attract or even retain one new nurse at what it says are “brutally understaffed” nursing homes.
