Devon Church says his motivation for entering the campaign race in the Oct. 24 municipal vote is, if elected, to propel council toward – quote – “innovation and positive change.” The registered nurse at Southwestern Public Health tells myFM there is a lack of lived experience presently on city council.
He urges the city to put pressure on the province to promote better health care.
If elected, Church promises to promote indoor walking spaces, outdoor skating rinks and green spaces.
He adds as a result of the pandemic, many residents feel isolated and crave human connection, particularly true for seniors.
Church would like to see council to put pressure on the province to promote better health care, shorter wait times, and living wages in addition to seeking increased funding available to municipalities.
Church has a simple message for voters when they fill out their ballot.
Church is one of 16 candidates seeking to fill the eight councillor seats at City Hall.
