Chelsea Hillier has been sentenced to 75 days house arrest and nine months’ probation after being found guilty of contempt of court last month.
The daughter of former controversial Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MPP Randy Hillier, she was the People’s Party of Canada candidate for Elgin-Middlesex-London in last year’s federal election.
She ran into legal trouble for social media posts regarding Carleton University instructor Esther Post.
Hillier was ordered to issue a contraction after not contesting a defamation lawsuit made by Post earlier this summer and was ordered to pay nearly $100,000 in damages.
Hillier issued the contraction nearly three months after it was ordered which led to the contempt of court conviction for which she was sentenced today.
