You have to admire the patience and determination of Rose Gibson.
She was successful last night in her sixth attempt to win a seat on city council.
Her first campaign was in the 2000 municipal election. In 2018 she finished 10th in a 19-candidate field.
myFM spoke with Gibson at city hall right after the results were posted.
Gibson asserts she is a team player and points to her more than three decades of community service.
She credits door knocking in targeted areas as critical in her successful campaign.
She told myFM engaging voters face to face really paid off for her this time.
The excitement was clearly evident Monday evening in the council chamber at city hall.
As she savoured the moment, Gibson thanked those who placed their trust in her and reminded residents to be patient while she and fellow rookie councillor Tara McCaulley become acclimatized.
Prior to election day, Gibson told myFM she believed her compassion will be an asset on council.
Gibson and McCaulley will be officially sworn in during the Nov. 7 meeting of city council.
