Early numbers suggest voter turnout across the province continued to drop in Monday’s municipal elections.
Preliminary data from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario suggest turnout was just 36% the 301 municipalities that held local elections.
That would be down from 38.3% in the last vote in 2018, which was among the lowest turnouts since 1982.
Even with a new online voting system in St. Thomas, the turnout was 30.6%, the second lowest in the past 60 years. The lowest was 29.3% in 1970.
