As we prepare for the end of Daylight Saving Time this Sunday, the St. Thomas Fire Department is hoping people will also use this time to check their smoke alarms.
The time change will occur Sunday at 2 a.m., so remember to turn your clocks back an hour before heading to bed.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun says when you go to turn back any clocks or appliances, also use that time as an opportunity to inspect your home’s smoke alarms.
Destun also advises when you should consider replacing older alarms.
If you do not have working smoke alarms and need either technical or financial assistance in making sure your home is properly equipped, reach out to the St. Thomas Fire Department.
