Students across Ontario are in school today after the union representing 55-thousand education workers reached a tentative deal yesterday afternoon with the province, averting a strike that had been planned for today.
The tentative deal comes with a one-dollar-per-hour raise each year, or about 3.59 per cent annually.
Members with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents workers such as custodians and early childhood educators, are set to vote this week on ratification of the four-year deal.
CUPE says the deal is no different than what the province offered last week before the union issued a five-day strike notice.
