It started with a group of friends brainstorming over what to do with their old purses.
Six years later Purses with Purpose collects 200 or more purses at this time of year to stuff them with useful items to support women in St. Thomas and area.
Tara Morrison explains why this is important to them.
Purses will be filled with items like packaged socks and underwear; soap, toothbrushes and deodorant; $5 gift cards, feminine hygiene products; individually wrapped snacks; hats and mitts then distributed to a half-dozen pick-up points.
From humble beginnings with about 75 donated purses, the group is confident they can assemble 200 or more purses stuffed with essentials for women.
Items will be collected until Dec. 9.
