City council gets its first look at the proposed 2023 budget this evening and members will have to do some trimming if they want to duplicate last year’s hike to the municipal property tax levy of 2.35 per%.
As it stands now, the increase in 2023 would be 2.87% with a proposed levy of just under $65 million, up almost $3 million from this year.
The public portion of the meeting gets underway at 5 p.m. in the council chamber at city hall.
