What started as a simple to way to bring a little joy to a few residents of a long-term care home has wildly exceeded the expectations of Bill and Sherry Marlatt.
This year’s edition of their Smiles for Seniors gift drive could brighten Christmas Day for close to a thousand seniors in St. Thomas and Elgin.
Bill tells myFM how the campaign has grown in the past seven years.
The couple stress unfortunately for many of these seniors, it may be the only gift they receive at Christmas.
A simple gift given on Christmas Day to a resident in a long-term care facility represents the true spirit of the season.
So, when you’re wrapping up your Christmas gift shopping, why not pick up a little something extra.
Bill lists the types of gifts they are looking for.
Those wishing to make a donation to help put a smile on a senior’s face this holiday season can do so by dropping gifts off at one of the following locations:
Yurek Pharmacy & Home Healthcare or Yurek Mobility & Stairlifts
The Art Crypt
Gurr Auto
Closing the Gap Healthcare
Waterworks Variety
A Little Off the Top, 350 John Street South, Aylmer
They will also be accepting gift card and cash donations. These can be dropped off at Yurek Mobility & Stairlifts, 31 Laing Blvd., in St. Thomas or at Yurek Pharmacy & Home Healthcare.
