What can you do with the proceeds from the sale of 50,000 Smile Cookies?
In the case of Tim Hortons outlets in St. Thomas, the money helped finance the purchase of a portable ultrasound machine for the emergency department at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
Department manager Amy Cooper tells myFM the value of that piece of equipment.
Wednesday morning, Tim Hortons franchisee Diane Stewart and operations manager Brenda Stoddart presented a cheque for $50,000 to the hospital foundation.
Call it the power of a cookie. Times 50,000.
That’s how many Smile Cookies were purchased this year which, in turn, brought a smile to the faces in the emergency department.
Stewart praises Tim Hortons’ customers in St. Thomas because, “every year we sell more cookies than the previous year.”
Since 2007, proceeds from the sale of Smile Cookies at Tim Hortons outlets in St. Thomas have been directed toward the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation.
That has resulted in approximately $250,000 to support the work of the hospital.
Stewart tells myFM how they determine what the money will be used for.
