An alert store employee prevented a city man from being out of pocket $3,500. He had clicked on an email link and provided personal information at which time he was contacted by an individual supposedly from his bank.
He was told to purchase $3,500 in gift cards to turn over to the bank.
The store clerk realized he was being scammed and halted the transaction.
