Two Hamilton-area teens were arrested by Elgin OPP after an armed robbery early Sunday morning in Oneida Nation of the Thames.
The pair were at a Keystone Place residence to complete an online transaction when the robbery occurred.
They assaulted two people at that residence and then fled the scene. They later collided with a school bus carrying adults on Sunset Drive.
They were arrested at the scene by Elgin OPP officers.
A 17-year-old of Ancaster, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
· Armed Robbery
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
· Failure to comply with undertaking
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
· Careless driving
A 16-year-old of Hamilton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
· Armed Robbery
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
· Failure to comply with undertaking (two counts)
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
The accused have been held for bail.
Their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
There were no serious injuries reported.
The investigation is continuing.
