While it looked like New Year’s Day may slip by without a birth at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, a baby boy arrived with 90 minutes to spare.
Margaretha and Enrique Sawatsky welcomed a son at 10:30 p.m.
The couple, who live in the Langton area – south of Tillsonburg – were still deciding on a name for the fifth boy in the family.
The baby boy checked in at 9 pounds 9 ounces and Margaretha tells myFM this is their 11th child.
myFM checked in with the hospital New Year’s Eve and no expectant mothers were on hand.
Margaretha tells us this is their fifth child born in St. Thomas.
As it turns out, their boy was the only baby born New Year’s Day at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
