If you’re a St. Thomas resident and your latest water bill has been astronomical, there is an explanation.
As outlined at Monday’s meeting of city council, the issue is estimated water meter readings not reflecting actual usage.
myFM spoke with Entegrus president and CEO Jim Hogan who explains what is being done now to rectify the billing situation.
The City of St. Thomas contracts out meter reading to Entegrus which in turn subcontracts the task to a third party.
Going back to last year the third party subcontractor has relied on estimated usage.
Hogan tells myFM residents with unusually high bills should contact the St. Thomas office for payment arrangements.
He adds other customers will get a rebate as they had estimated readings that were actually higher than usage.
Hogan says updated meter readings are anticipated to be undertaken this month.
