A blast.
That’s what Blue Jays’ reliever Adam Cimber called an evening spent last week at The Power Alley in St. Thomas.
He and Jays’ closer Jordan Romano were head table guests at this year’s Sports Spectacular but arrived a day early to spend some time offering coaching tips to possible future major leaguers.
Cimber said he loved how baseball had made huge inroads in hockey-mad Canada.
This followed an afternoon of shooting hoops with a group of Special Olympians.
Romano added playing at the major league level can be so stressful and spending down time with young fans is a great stress reliever.
Cimber talked to myFM about his unique submarine delivery.
Cimber was an important part of the Toronto bull pen last season, finishing with a 10-6 record.
He said the Blue Jays were a fun groups of guys last season who are looking forward to a deeper run in the coming season.
So, you think your job involves a fair amount of stress. How about being a major league baseball closer where every call to the mound is fraught with danger.
Romano thrives on it. He told myFM it could be “scary” in his early days in that role.
Romano laughs, “I wouldn’t say you have fun but you learn to enjoy it.”
