The presentations from the Top 5 finalists in The Pitch were so outstanding, the judges Wednesday night required overtime.
The finale of the Elgin Business Resource Centre annual business plan competition – held at the Princess Avenue Playhouse – produced one winner and four easily could-have-been winners.
But ultimately it was Dogs on 3 with Tanya Buttinger who prevailed.
Her upscale start-up boarding facility for dogs won Tanya and her husband Mike $30,000 in cash and in-kind services.
Tanya tells myFM what the prize money will be used for.
The goal is to open the boarding facility later this spring.
Tanya says she wants to pay it forward in coming years by becoming a financial supporter of future editions of The Pitch.
With Dogs on 3, she and her husband are looking a long way down the road through the involvement of family members.
The other four finalists Blue Groves Farms (Victoria Spencer), Caps Off Brewing (Fran Dunseith), Harbour Cheesecake and Raw For Pets (Tom Skippen) each receive $250 in cash.
Tanya and Mike Buttinger join previous winners Wildflowers Tea, The Ice Box, Smart Dental Hygiene, Century Chocolates, Shebaz’s Shawarma and Streamliners Espresso Bar.
