Centre Bo Horvat has agreed to an eight-year, 68-million-dollar U-S contract with the New York Islanders.
The deal comes less than a week after New York acquired the Rodney native from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Anthony Beauvillier, prospect Aatu Raty, and a conditional first-round pick in 2023.
At the time of the trade, Horvat was having a career season with 31 goals and 24 assists in 49 games.
Horvat could have become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end.
He was selected ninth overall by the Canucks in the 2013 NHL Draft.
